Give it Away Give it Away Give it Away Now...

See those flags above? They're basically yours. Here's how they will become officially yours:
Step 1. Follow my blog (if you already follow, you're one step ahead).
Step 2. Post a comment. Where in your life would these flags reside?
Step 3. Check back on the 30th of May to see if you won.
The winner will be chosen at random , a winning parcel will soon follow.

  2. if i had these flags, emily, i would hang them along one wall in my bedroom (above the handmade table runner of fabric scraps from my great, great grandmother and Gavin's native american peace pipe) to continue the americana and the special personal handcrafted collection.

  3. If I won these lovely flags they would decorate my new apartment (unfortunately i have not found it yet) in San Francisco. They would probably live in my new whimsical kitchen.

  6. REPOSTING DUE TO MODIFICATIONS IN THE EFC ACT LINE 4B SECTION 2.1> If I had a set of these little guys, I would start by slashing the national debt, next I would give solar and wind the true kick start to end our dependance on foreign oil, I would create a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners and repeal a small business mandate that requires reporting of healthcare costs of under $600 USD, and last but not least, I would require that all committees—especially the Rules Committee—webcast their proceedings and post complete transcripts online—with obvious exceptions for those panels dealing with state secrets and classified information.

  8. My cats would gladly try to hang off of this string of flags with their claws, and I would gladly spray them with a little water bottle in order to protect it. Or, better idea: put it in the craft room, where they are forbidden to enter!

  10. These flags would hang in Veazie, ME. Then, starting in June 2011, they would hang in Old Town, ME. Then, in 2012, they would hang in Colorado for a period of time and after that, they would hang in a yet to be discovered place where I'll be gainfully employed. They would travel!

  11. I would hang them on the one stubbornly empty wall in my room, above my bed in the space normally reserved for a headboard!

  14. Emily, if I had your flags, I would take one of my garden beds, and declare it as land in the sovereign nation of Dartlandistan. I would also find a blog about sightseeing in Portland, and list the nation.

  16. I would hang these flags in my (future) classroom, which would prompt my students to ask things like, "What kind of white lady nonsense is that?" and I'll say, "Special white lady nonsense from a very special white lady. Now, let's try to sing in unison this time, okay?"

  17. Oh beautiful little flags... if they lived at my house they would hang around above my dresser and liven up the rusty red mirror that resides there.

  19. The sellers of our house left a curtain rod mounted to a windowless wall. I would love if the flags would adorn randomly windowless curtain rod. However the acres of clams on the geoduck farm would love some decor to mask their gross-looking-ness.

  20. Emily, these flags would be my sole wardrobe forevermore.

  21. If I hung these flags up in my living room, my cats would do everything possible to hang from them with their little claws. Thus, I would hang these up in my no-cats-craftroom, where they would remain pristine and pretty!

  22. Well, I would hang those flags in my soon-to-be-found Parisian flat. They'll probably hang in some doorway, I'd say to the kitchen, or maybe into the entrance corridor. Like that, they'd greet every person passing under them, by giving them that loose hi-fivy feeling you get when you pass under a banner of flags, therefore lifting their souls up from the possibly gloomy day they were having so far.

Thinking about it, I'd definitely put them in the kitchen doorway. I think the act of getting into one's kitchen should be celebrated more. It deserves flags. It deserves some sort of celebration for the meal to come.

That's where I stand on the whole flags situation.
